Many years ago, I went on a multi-day biking tour through France. Our guide, in addition to biking miles per day with us, would run multiple miles as well. As I remarked about all this activity, he told me that “I like going to bed tired.”
I think there’s something to that. While sometimes people talk about full, active lives by saying “I’ll sleep when I’m dead!” my sense is that a full, active life often leads to good sleep. We can sleep better by filling our days with as much life as possible.
Now I know that there are plenty of caveats to this observation.
