I love writing books. It is probably my favorite thing I do! So I’m thrilled to be working on the manuscript for a book currently called Big Time (out from Norton in 2026).
Of course, writing a book can be daunting when you simply see it on your to-do list as such (“Write book”). Even “write chapter 2” can feel overwhelming as a task. Where to start?
So, it’s easier not to start. I definitely caught myself feeling that way earlier this week. Instead of starting to write Monday morning, I did…other things.
Procrastination happens. The majority of people admit to procrastinating at least some of the time, probably because it’s a very human tendency to avoid things that are difficult or vague in favor of easy wins.
But I do think there are wise ways to deal with this reality. If procrastination is inevitable, here’s how to acknowledge it and still get stuff done.
