Many people started working from home during the pandemic. Even though a number of organizations have pushed a “return to office” protocol, the proportion of people in information jobs who work from home regularly remains above where it was in 2019.
And working from home is great. I maintain that regular offices are incredibly distracting places (why is Bob talking so loudly? Who microwaved the fish?). That said, home offices can be distracting too, if for different reasons. You might be aware of household chores that could be done, or there might be other family members at home too.
Fortunately, there’s a very simple way to make it slightly easier to stay focused until you really want to take a break.
