Maybe some people truly love flying, but I think most of us would just like to get to our destinations as soon as possible. Long plane flights become about killing time.

On some level it makes sense. You’re in a small, enclosed space. This narrow tube might be bouncing around in the clouds.

If you’ve got small kids with you, a long flight is often just about getting through it. But if you happen to be traveling by yourself, or at least with people who can entertain themselves, then a long plane flight is actually something of an opportunity. Many of us claim we’d love to have a few hours with no one bothering us. Airplane wifi is still spotty enough that you can claim a lack of connectivity, and in any case, no one will schedule you for a Zoom call while you’re in the air. So here are some ideas for taking advantage of what could be a mini-retreat.
