When I study people’s schedules, and ask about their pain points, meetings come up again and again. Yes, meetings are necessary. Many of us need to make decisions together about things, and people are unlikely to randomly show up, prepared, at the same time. But pretty soon, people’s schedules wind up dominated by meetings. Any non-meeting work has to be squeezed into the crevices of a day or (worse) into nights and weekends.
It can be frustrating. But fortunately, there is a way to reduce at least some of the load.
