Back in mid-September, I shared my “Fall Fun List” — a list of seasonal adventures that would help me enjoy autumn.

Fall is not really over now. We have yet to reach the winter solstice, and though the leaves are mostly down in my part of the world, there are still a few spots of spectacular color.

That said, I believe in accountability, so as we come into the holiday season, I want to share how I did on my list. Maybe this will inspire you to keep and follow-up on your own lists of adventures!

Go to Portland, Maine, and run along the water. I went to Maine in mid-September and did take two lovely runs along the harbor trail. One morning was so misty the whole world looked magical. Setting this as a goal nudged me to get up before busy days to get a little time to commune with nature.

Go to upstate NY in mid-October (and Boston in late October). Both of these were wonderful trips. I visited my little brother in upstate NY in early/mid October, and while the leaves weren’t yet at peak, I saw beautiful scenery while hiking in Minnewaska, and I got to buy some apples and even go on a buggy ride. I visited my oldest kid for parents’ weekend in Boston, and in addition to spending time with my son, I got a bit of a weekend-getaway with my husband. Just one night, but still nice! Plus we went to the aquarium and the art museum. That was a lot of little adventures for about 30 hours.
