How to get people to pay attention when you've got something to share
I recently met up with a friend who is thinking of starting a podcast. Aside from the mechanics of podcasting itself, one thing we talked about was how to build an audience. When you’re just starting out, how do you get anyone to pay attention to you?
It’s a good question — and not just for people starting podcasts! Many people will want to launch something in life. In the book publishing world, an author’s “platform” is a key part of any proposal. A platform is, more or less, evidence that you have a following, and that when your book comes out, people will buy it.
There’s no surefire “one weird trick” for building a platform, but here are three strategies that I’ve seen be helpful for building an audience in a distracted world.
